elementor - v3.11.5 - 14-03-2023 *\/\n.elementor-widget-text-editor.elementor-drop-cap-view-stacked .elementor-drop-cap{background-color:#69727d;color:#fff}.elementor-widget-text-editor.elementor-drop-cap-view-framed .elementor-drop-cap{color:#69727d;border:3px solid;background-color:transparent}.elementor-widget-text-editor:not(.elementor-drop-cap-view-default) .elementor-drop-cap{margin-top:8px}.elementor-widget-text-editor:not(.elementor-drop-cap-view-default) .elementor-drop-cap-letter{width:1em;height:1em}.elementor-widget-text-editor .elementor-drop-cap{float:left;text-align:center;line-height:1;font-size:50px}.elementor-widget-text-editor .elementor-drop-cap-letter{display:inline-block}<\/style>\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Dr. Kennedy Tielman was born in Cura\u00e7ao. <\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">After completing his secondary education, he moved to the Netherlands in 1977 to study as a chemical analyst followed by training as a chemistry teacher.<\/span><\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Thereafter, he was employed as a chemistry teacher at a secondary senior vocational education and training school. <\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Since 2005 he has been working as a teacher educator at the Fontys University of Applied Sciences, specializing in pedagogical content knowledge for chemistry, for which he holds an MSc degree from Utrecht University. <\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">He also taught from 2009 to 2011 as a visiting lecturer of pedagogical content knowledge in chemistry at the Technical University of Eindhoven and the Universidade Pedagogica in Mozambique.<\/span><\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">His PhD research entitled <\/span><\/span><em><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">&#8220;Diversity related (compe)tensions: A study <\/span><\/span><\/em><br \/><em><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">into teachers&#8217; self-perceived multicultural competence and experienced culturally loading value-based <\/span><\/span><\/em><em><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">tensions in Senior Secondary Vocational Education and Training&#8221;<\/span><\/span><\/em><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"> resulted in several peer-reviewed publications. <\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">One of his articles received an award for the most downloaded article at an international <\/span><\/span><br \/><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">journal in the first 12 months after publication.<\/span><\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">During his PhD research, Kennedy presented his research at several national and international conferences. <\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">His research receives considerable attention from the media and relevant institutions and was used in a legislative proposal for more support for SSVET teachers to address diversity. <\/span><\/span><br \/><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Moreover, based on his research, he was invited several times by the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science to participate as a member of a think tank and sounding board in sessions on diversity in senior secondary vocational education and was invited to present his research <\/span><\/span><br \/><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">results to the national board of SSVET.<\/span><\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">By giving various lectures and workshops for universities, schools and other institutions and his professional publications, he promotes the translation of his research findings into practice.\u00a0<br \/>He currently works as a Professor of Practice (practor) where he conducts research on Relational Caring at Senior Secondary Vocational Education Summa.
